The Problem
After an MRI scan, Noel ascertains that his spinal cord has been severely damaged by fractured vertebrae in his spine due to the impact trauma. Even with surgery, there is no guarantee that Ollie will ever be able to walk again. Under huge time pressure, the family have to make an agonising decision whether or not to go ahead with surgery in the hope that his vertebrae can be reconstructed and his spinal cord recovers with time, despite the odds, or to put him to sleep.
