Astrid, Jeff & Rolo

A very unusual patient is brought to the practice as an emergency by self-confessed ferret fanatics (current count sixteen) Ben and Melanie. Poor ferret Astrid has broken her leg falling off the sofa while doing a ‘war dance’.

Ebullient puddle-loving Labrador, five-year-old Jeff, has been suffering developmental elbow disease which has caused severe life-long arthritis, and sadly, it can’t be managed by medication alone.

Some of the most difficult decisions that families face concern cancer. Sue and Phil already know that their velvety-brown 10-year-old Doberman, Rolo (named after the eponymous chocolates) has a confirmed tumour in the humerus bone near his shoulder, resulting in a limp and excruciating pain.
