Bran, Lexi & Gabbana

Bran is an eight-month-old German Shepherd rescue puppy, with an extraordinary story. His back leg was amputated after a fracture failed to heal properly, but this didn’t put Kasey and Joey off. They took him home to give him the chance of a new life but after a few months Bran started limping on his remaining back leg and now he can barely walk. His severe hip problem presents both Noel and Bran’s family with a very emotional ethical dilemma.

At only fourteen weeks old, French Bulldog puppy Lexi has been attacked by a larger dog and as a result, has sustained a fractured front leg and possible neck injury. But the problem is compounded because the break extends across her growth plates into the elbow joint, which Noel suspects could have an adverse effect on the normal growth of her leg.

Gabbana is an eleven-year-old Shih Tzu, small but sturdy, one of a family of four rescue dogs all of whom live with mum Rachel in Worcestershire. When Gabbana suddenly collapsed on her back legs she was devastated. Noel suspects that the problem stems from damaged discs between three of Gabbana’s neck vertebrae, which have dried out and compressed her spinal cord and nerves.
